Job Summary:
Lafayette County Board of Sheltered Services (LCBSS) is seeking a dependable Route Driver to provide transportation for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. One driver for a dedicated route and one driver as sub for all routes when the dedicated driver is unavailable. Our drivers provide transportation to individuals in Lafayette County, Missouri, between their homes and employment at Lafayette County Enterprises or to The Bridge Day Program in Higginsville, MO. This position is a Monday through Friday split shift schedule:
- Morning Route: 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
- Afternoon Route: 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate mini-vans, 12–15 passenger vans, and high-top conversion cut-away vehicles (with and without wheelchair lifts)
- Follow scheduled routes to transport riders to and from day programs and employment locations
- Perform vehicle inspections before and after each route
- Maintain accurate rider attendance and trip records
- Treat all people with dignity and respect
- Comply with all safety protocols and traffic laws (no cell phone use while driving)
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to obtain a Class E “For Hire” license within 30 days of hire (reimbursable)
- Submit to a criminal background check and driving history check within 2 days of hire
- Submit to a drug screening
- Strong time management and reliability

Job Type: Part-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Split Shift
Pay: $15.00 starting with up to a 3% increase at the end of 90 days and annually thereafter with continued board approval.
License/Certification: Driver’s License (Required), Class E License (within 30 days)
