What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Counselor position at Lafayette College?
The Admissions Counselor performs a wide range of entry-level admissions duties including the management of all aspects of in-person and virtual (online) recruitment work for an assigned territory, such as:
- representing the College at college fairs and high school visits
- acting as the Lafayette liaison to school counselors
- conducting interviews and group information sessions
- evaluating admissions applications
- developing and maintaining relationships with students, parents/guardians and community-based organization/independent counselors
In addition to significant contact with external constituents, the professional in this role will serve on and potentially lead a number of internal teams that advance the larger enrollment division’s cause as an energized and goal-oriented operation.
The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree and be willing to travel domestically and possibly internationally. A valid driver’s license is also required.
- Extended hours during the academic year, including evenings and weekends (when necessary) are the norm.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are expected, as well as the ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- A high level of energy and an excitement for young people and their aspirations for college opportunities are critical components to being successful in this role.

- be able to express a creative writing ability, specific event planning, statistical analysis, social media management and/or international experience
