What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Support Specialist position at Ladies of Virtue?
Position Summary
Ladies of Virtue is currently seeking a qualified individual for the Program Support Specialist position. The responsibilities of the Program Support Specialist include serving as the project manager for special initiatives of Ladies of Virtue to enhance overall programming. Additionally, the Program Support Specialist will contribute to Ladies of Virtue's organization-wide initiatives as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mentor and mentee match and monitoring process (from Saturday orientation to closing)
- Utilizing best practices to schedule mentor and mentee trainings
- Coordination of summer internship and Power to the Professional Bootcamp, including curriculum and data entry
- Serve as lead for Saturday Institute events, and field trips/explorations
- Serve as a point of contact for Saturday Institute mentors
- Coordinate mental health programming virtually and in-person
- Identify areas of concern for the Saturday Institute and help to improve them
- Ensuring a unified programmatic experience across Saturday facilitation through observation
- Help staff select community outreach events such as Bud Billiken Parade, Black Women’s Expo, and back to school events
- Serve on committees as assigned by the CEO or program manager
- Attend trainings to enhance expertise
- Ability to work flexible hours between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM, including evenings as needed
- May be expected to work weekends (off Saturdays and/or Sundays), particularly to support or attend events
- Be responsive to internal texts and emails (i.e., respond within 2 hours during business hours, and before 9 am of the next business day after business hours) and maintain up-to-date online calendar information
- Ability to travel throughout the Chicago area and out of state for training, college tours, LOV Pop Up events and/or LOV programming
- Ability to bend, lift, and transport up to 25 lbs
- Ability to drive 15-passengar van
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Passionate about the Ladies of Virtue’s mission and values and working with youth
- Experience with facilitation, program management and/or program implementation
- Must be able to manage time effectively
- Should be able to execute projects independently
- Must be able to communicate with parents and youth and foster their involvement and participation in program, planning, problem solving, and decision making
- Must have reliable and consistent transportation, the ability, and flexibility to work across the Chicagoland area
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends in addition to business hours
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Human Development Social Work, or related discipline
- At least three years of experience in youth programs, training, and public speaking
- Candidates must pass a criminal history records check and drug screening, in addition to other Chicago Public Schools safety requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license

Our mission is to instill purpose, passion, and perseverance in girls, ages 9 to 18, while preparing them for college, careers and to become change agents in their communities.
We match our participants with mentors and prepare them for leadership through our culturally relevant character building, career readiness and civic engagement curriculum. We provide project management, collaboration and communication training via our two to four-month project experiences to empower girls to lead in the modern workforce. After graduating from high school, with successful completion of our leadership program, participants are mentored and supported for six additional years as LOV 4 Life alumni.
Pay: $60,000.00 per year
