Summary:
Medical Assistants are key members of the health care delivery team responsible for flow of patients through the clinic. This role will work directly with a Family Medicine/OB Clinician. Duties include, but are not limited to: rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, administering injections, patient chart review, and assisting with minor procedures. Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Typical Schedule:
- Scheduled 4 days/week, with one late night per week.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or RMA,LPN or EMT, required.
- CMA, CCMA, RMA, or WI LPN licensure, required.
- CPR certification, required.
- Minimum of one year of full-time employment in Family Practice, preferred.
- Prior experience with electronic medical records, preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Completing pre-visit planning based on OMC policy and procedure.
- Taking and recording patient vital signs in the electronic health record system.
- Taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health record system.
- Learning about the medical process and using a team approach in patient supervision and documentation.
- Assisting the clinician with sterile and nonsterile procedures.
- Continuing outreach to patients with overdue preventative care needs.
- Assisting with medication prescription process.
- Placing future orders for lab and imaging.
- Keeping exam room stocked with adequate medical supplies.
- Preparing procedure and exam rooms for patient examinations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Critical thinking skills (foresight to pre planning of visits).
- Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and electronic medical records.
- Maintain the integrity of highly confidential business information.
- Display and promote high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with organizational standards
