Cindependent is Cincinnati's nonprofit home for independent film. Through the Cindependent Film Festival presented with LADD, year-round artist development, educational programs, and stewardship of the historic Mariemont Theatre, we connect people through stories that inspire curiosity, empathy, and conversation.

The Mariemont Theatre is our year-round home - a five-screen nonprofit cinema dedicated to independent film, community programming, education, and cultural experiences.

Position Summary

The Part-Time General Manager is the operational utility player for the Mariemont Theatre.

This position provides leadership support wherever it's needed most, stepping in across operations, guest experience, projection, events, and administrative functions to ensure the theatre runs smoothly every day. Whether covering a manager's shift, supporting a sold-out premiere, onboarding new team members, or helping prepare for major events, the Part-Time General Manager helps keep the entire operation moving forward.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support across all theatre departments as needed.
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts.
• Assist the Operations Director with daily theatre operations and special projects.
• Support the Guest Experience Manager during high-volume shows, festivals, rentals, and special events.
• Assist the Projection Manager with theatre readiness and technical operations as needed.
• Help onboard and train Hosts and other front-of-house team members.
• Support concessions, café, bar, retail, and inventory operations during peak periods.
• Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation throughout the facility.
• Assist with opening, closing, cash management, and operational procedures.
• Help coordinate special events, member experiences, private rentals, and community programs.
• Troubleshoot operational challenges and help departments stay on schedule.
• Step into temporary leadership responsibilities when management staff are unavailable.
• Help foster a positive, collaborative workplace that reflects Cindependent's mission of building community through film.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who enjoys wearing many hats, solving problems, and supporting both guests and teammates. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, calm under pressure, and excited to help wherever they're needed.

Required

• 2 - 5 years of experience in hospitality, entertainment, retail, food service, venue operations, or similar environments.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and confidently between different responsibilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Preferred

• Experience managing front-of-house operations.
• Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
• Experience with concessions, retail, or inventory management.
• Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
• Basic technical aptitude for theatre or AV operations.
• Passion for film, arts, hospitality, or community organizations.
