Summary
The primary function of the Opto-Mechanical Assembly Department is to assemble optical and mechanical components together to meet customer requirements. As a member of this department, the Optical Assembly Technician will be responsible for correctly following work instructions to assemble optics into housings on a production schedule. The work takes place primarily in a clean room environment.
Optical Assembly Technician I – The employee shall be expected to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed below with supervisory guidance and training. Once trained, the technician will be able to perform the tasks with minimal supervision.
Optical Assembly Technician II – The employee shall be expected to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed below at a high level of proficiency and with minimal supervision. In addition, the employee shall provide guidance and mentoring to level I technicians. The employee should be able to identify assembly process improvements and bring them to the attention of the Optical Assembly Supervisor for further review.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily after completing the initial training. The individual should be detail-oriented and adept at following assembly instructions. The individual shall perform the assembly steps correctly in the same way each time. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to understand, speak and read English to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve common problems associated with the job.
