Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position involves cleaning school facilities, performing minor maintenance tasks, and ensuring that school buildings and grounds are well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling containers.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
- Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues.
- Monitor building security by locking and unlocking doors as required.
- Inspect school facilities for safety hazards and report maintenance needs.
- Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and grounds maintenance when necessary.
- Follow safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Respond to emergency cleaning situations, including spills and accidents.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to operate floor-cleaning machines and other custodial equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
