About Lachat Town Farm
Lachat Town Farm is a non-profit community organization that provides educational and recreational programming for local residents of all ages. Our popular Summer Farmhands program runs for 9 weeks and engages children ages 3–7 in outdoor activities that foster a love of nature, gardening, and sustainability. We are seeking an experienced Camp Director to lead our summer program and ensure a safe, engaging, and meaningful experience for all participants.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Planning & Logistics
- Oversee and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements, including:
- Emergency management plans
- Camper medical forms
- Staff background checks
- Facility safety standards
- Develop and maintain weekly camp schedules, including space usage, guest specialists, and weather contingencies.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and document curriculum, themes, and activity flow.
- Manage inventory and procure supplies and materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate records for camper photo permissions and ensure compliance.
Onsite Program Management
- Be present onsite Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, throughout the camp season (June 15 – August 14).
- Supervise daily setup and cleanup for all activities and ensure shared farm spaces are reset for other farm programs.
- Support teachers and counselors by substituting as needed and providing daily breaks for full-day lead teachers.
- Ensure smooth transitions for campers and maintain schedule flow.
- Respond to medical, behavioral, and emergency situations in a calm and appropriate manner, serving as the primary First Aid responder.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, positive camp environment for 3 camper groups.
Staff & Team Leadership
- Support a team of teachers, counselors, and CITs to deliver high-quality programming.
- Keep the Assistant Director and Lachat leadership up to date on progress, changes, and concerns.
- Ensure all team members understand program goals, daily plans, and important updates.
Family & Community Communication
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents and caregivers.
- Send weekly welcome and recap emails, including photos and camp highlights.
- Coordinate communication regarding camper needs (allergies, behavioral issues, etc.).
- Respond to daily emails and phone calls regarding the camp program.
Ideal Skills & Experience
- Experience in teaching, youth leadership, outdoor education, and/or camp management.
- Background in early childhood or elementary education, curriculum development, and/or environmental sciences.
- Experience working with young children in outdoor settings.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp).
- Strong organizational, communication, and conflict management skills.
- Background check required.

- Highly organized and proactive in solving problems.
- Flexible, dependable, and willing to jump in wherever needed—whether that's filling in as a teacher, cleaning up water play, or carrying supplies across the farm.
- Comfortable with physical activity including bending, lifting, navigating uneven terrain, and working outdoors in the heat.
Hours & Compensation
- Flexible remote hours in the months leading up to camp for planning and coordination.
- Onsite Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, during camp season (June 15 – August 14), plus light administrative duties outside of these hours.
- Compensation: $1,250-$1500/week, which includes planning leading up to summer.
