Field Service Engineer – Advanced Laboratory Instrumentation

As demand for advanced materials and sustainable packaging continues to grow, so does our business. We're expanding our North American Service Team and are looking for a Field Service Engineer who wants more than just another service job.

What You'll Work On

You'll install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain advanced laboratory instrumentation, including:

  • Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) Analyzers
  • Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) Analyzers
  • Gas Permeability Testers
  • Universal Tensile Testers
  • Heat Seal and Hot Tack Testers
  • Friction and Peel Testers
  • Thickness Testers
  • Thermal Shrink Testers
  • Impact Testers
  • Other precision laboratory instruments

You'll become the technical expert customers rely on to keep their laboratories operating at peak performance.


A Typical Week Could Include

Monday

  • Travel to a customer site and commission a new laboratory instrument.

Tuesday

  • Train laboratory technicians on instrument operation and best practices.

Wednesday

  • Troubleshoot an electromechanical issue and restore production.

Thursday

  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration to maximize instrument performance.

Friday

  • Return home after helping another customer improve quality, productivity, and reliability.

No two weeks are exactly alike.


What You'll Do

  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair sophisticated laboratory testing equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration services.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and software-related issues.
  • Train customers on proper operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Manage service inventory to maximize first-time fix rates.
  • Promote service agreements, upgrades, and new equipment opportunities.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Technical Support, Sales, and Applications teams.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience on every visit.

What You'll Need

  • Associate's degree (or higher) in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test instruments.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid passport.
  • Ability to travel approximately 70% throughout North America with occasional international travel.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work around laboratory equipment for extended periods.


When you're not traveling, you'll work from our Medford (Boston), Massachusetts headquarters.
