Duties
- Operate and navigate vessels up to 100 Tons in accordance with US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and maritime safety procedures
- Lead and manage crew members, fostering effective communication and teamwork onboard
- Conduct routine vessel inspections, maintenance checks, and oversee water transportation equipment upkeep to ensure optimal performance
- Execute rigging, heavy lifting, and manual handling tasks safely during vessel operations or cargo loading/unloading
- Implement maritime safety protocols, emergency procedures, and ensure crew adherence to all safety standards
- Utilize marine navigation systems to plot courses, monitor vessel position, and ensure precise navigation across waterways
- Manage vessel documentation, logs, incident reports, and coordinate with relevant authorities for compliance
Qualifications
- Valid US Coast Guard (USCG) 100 Ton Master License or equivalent certification with proven experience in vessel operation
- Extensive knowledge of maritime safety procedures, USCG regulations, and water transportation industry standards
- Strong skills in marine navigation systems, vessel handling, and maritime piloting techniques
- Experience managing crews as a ship supervisor or captain within the water transportation sector
- Mechanical knowledge related to vessel maintenance, rigging systems, and water transportation equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely using rigging equipment; manual handling experience required
- Background in military service or related maritime training highly desirable for leadership skills and discipline
- Excellent communication skills for effective crew management and maritime crew coordination
