SUMMARY
The Surgical Support Technician (SST) serves as a nurse extender (OR, GI. PACU. Pre-op, Anesthesia) through the provision of care across the continuum to provide optimal safety and partnering with physicians, and staff by accessing patients for transports, providing on hand clinical transports, maintains safety with clinical equipment, supplies, and positioning and lifting for patients in the OR/Pre-op/PACU/GI/Anesthesia clinical settings including specialty devics for safety and optimal clinical outcomes and metric goals. Assists in core supply areas, OR room/GI/Anesthesia/PACU/Pre-op turnovers, and promotes a clean sanitary, orderly Perioperative environments. Ensures safe delivery of pathology specimens. Performs regulatory compliance audits under the direction of CSM's and Directors of Perioperative Services. The SST reports to charge nurses, CSM's, and Directors. Other positions that report to CSM are certified surgical technologist, GI technicians, RN's charge nurses, and ward clerks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to employment or within one month of employment.
