Solid Waste Engineer Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented engineering student to join our team as a Solid Waste Engineer Intern for the Fall and Spring semesters. This multi-semester internship offers hands-on experience in solid waste management, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiatives. The intern will support technical projects, data analysis, and field operations under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Duties:

• Assist in the design, evaluation, and optimization of solid waste systems including collection, transfer, recycling, and disposal
• Conduct field inspections and site assessments of landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities
• Analyze environmental data and prepare technical reports, charts, and presentations
• Support regulatory compliance efforts including permit applications, reporting, and documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on sustainability and waste reduction initiatives
• Perform GIS mapping and spatial analysis related to waste infrastructure and service areas
• Participate in stakeholder meetings and contribute to project planning and development

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Completion of at least sophomore year by the start of the internship
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or data analysis tools is a plus
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Interest in environmental sustainability and public infrastructure

Schedule:

• Part-time: 20-30 hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters.
