What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hardware Test & Validation Engineer - Warrendale, PA position at Lab37?
Who We Are
At Lab37 we hire builders, people who are wired to create, troubleshoot, and improve systems as a default behavior, not just a job description. The signal we look for is genuine craft: candidates who can explain why they prefer certain tools, processes, or technologies because they’ve used them enough to develop informed opinions, not borrowed ones. Just as important, we hire for humility and learning velocity—people who actively seek feedback, take input without ego, and can pivot quickly when new information or a better idea emerges. We want teammates who treat iteration as a strength: change isn’t a threat, it’s how better products get built.
We prioritize exceptional individual contributors and keep the organization “maker-led”: management is not a separate career track, it’s an earned responsibility. The strongest makers become team leads because they set the standard, mentor others, and still stay close to the work. Culturally, we don’t tolerate hierarchy-by-distance, no task is beneath anyone, and leadership means doing whatever the team needs, especially the unglamorous work. This creates a high-trust, high-ownership environment where people collaborate naturally, learn fast, and want to keep coming back because they’re building alongside a crew that raises their game.
What You’ll Do
As a Hardware Test Engineer at Lab37 Robotics, you will design, execute, and automate tests that prove out our system per NSF requirements and are reliable, and durable in real kitchens. You’ll translate food safety standard and operational best practices into clear test requirements, build fixtures and rigs (often with Raspberry Pi/Arduino or similar), and instrument systems with temperature, humidity, and other environmental sensors. Your work will uncover failure modes, validate component lifecycles, and drive design improvements that elevate product quality and guest experience.
Responsibilities
Our work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and fulfilling work. We believe that a stimulating and enjoyable workplace is key to driving innovation and achieving excellence. At Lab37 Robotics, every team member plays a vital role in shaping the future of food production, and we are committed to supporting our employees' growth and success. We are looking for best in class for both talent and work ethic and provide benefits and pay to match.
Join us at Lab37 Robotics and be a part of a forward-thinking company that's transforming the way the world approaches food production.
