Passivation Technician

Position Summary

LAB Medical Manufacturing is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Passivation Technician to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for performing passivation and related cleaning processes on precision-machined components in accordance with established procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform passivation, cleaning, rinsing, and related finishing processes on stainless steel and other applicable components.
• Follow established work instructions, routers, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Prepare, monitor, and maintain passivation tanks and chemical solutions according to approved procedures.
• Load and unload parts from baskets, racks, tanks, and processing equipment while preventing damage or contamination.
• Verify that parts, quantities, job travelers, and processing requirements are correct prior to beginning work.
• Monitor process parameters such as solution concentration, temperature, time, and other required conditions.
• Perform required testing and process checks and accurately document results.
• Maintain complete and accurate production and quality records for all work performed.
• Properly identify and maintain traceability of materials and components throughout the passivation process.
• Inspect parts for cleanliness, staining, discoloration, damage, or other visible defects before and after processing.
• Immediately report process deviations, equipment issues, nonconforming material, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or Quality department.
• Handle chemicals safely and follow all applicable PPE, SDS, environmental, and safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of passivation equipment and work areas.
• Assist with chemical inventory and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Follow all company Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in training, continuous improvement activities, and other departmental initiatives as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, metal finishing, passivation, chemical processing, or medical device manufacturing preferred.
• Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, routers, procedures, and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to safely work with chemicals and follow established handling procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Quality & Compliance Responsibilities

The Passivation Technician is responsible for performing all assigned work in accordance with LAB Medical Manufacturing's Quality Management System, documented procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Employees are expected to immediately report any quality concerns, process deviations, nonconforming product, or documentation discrepancies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as required.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, protective clothing, and other PPE as required.
• Ability to safely work around chemical processing equipment and manufacturing machinery.
