Primary Purpose:
Perform the daily business office functions for the school district with accuracy and timeliness to maintain full compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
TASBO Certification Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal payroll, and financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent understanding of school district business rules, regulations, and best business practices.
- Ability to implement efficient payroll and other financial processes.
- Pays close attention to detail and can process financial data accurately and efficiently.
- Proficient in using Google software for tasks such as developing spreadsheets, managing databases, and preparing reports.
- Capable of overseeing and guiding team members to ensure smooth and accurate business office procedures.
Experience:
3 years of business office experience at a high level of responsibility
Texas Public School District Experience Preferred
Experience working in Ascender is preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Employee Benefits and Payroll
- Assist as needed with payroll reporting, payroll processing, and verification.
- Assist as needed with monitoring the payroll inbox and answering employee payroll questions.
- Assist as needed with payoffs and verification of supplemental pay forms.
- Plan and coordinate open enrollment annually.
- Assist all new hires during the year with benefits enrollment.
- Answer questions for staff regarding qualifying events and other benefit-related questions.
- Process, prepare, and submit 1095s to employees and the IRS
- Coordinate with Human Resources on various aspects of payroll and benefits to provide staff with exceptional customer service.
Finance
- Prepare and post all cash receipts and post to the appropriate accounts.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, and process the sales tax report.
- Enter and prepare all business office requisitions for payment.
- Process all refunds issued by the Business Office.
Administrative
- Schedule and provide administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Prepare, manage, and maintain and post all required annual postings to the Business Office Webpage.
- Send notices to the newspaper as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
- Maintain confidentiality of all information.
- All other duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
