Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. Your work will involve promoting independence and dignity while ensuring the safety and well-being of those in your care.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Provide support in community integration activities, encouraging social interaction and participation in local events.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs of each client, ensuring adherence to resident rights.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
- Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for individuals with disabilities or dementia.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to home community care, social work, and assisted living practices.
Qualifications
- DSP 1 & DSP 2
- CPI Certified
- First Aid Certification
- Active Per ID # (Background Check)
- At least 2 years of experience in home community care, social work, or working with individuals with disabilities is required.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols, required.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals on the autism spectrum and those requiring assistance in daily living activities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to advocate for resident rights effectively.
- A background in nursing home settings or assisted living facilities is required.
- Must possess a caring attitude, patience, and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
Open Shifts
- Shift A: Monday-Thursday 2pm-8pm & one Saturday, or Sunday 10am-6pm
- More shifts and hours may be available upon completion of probation period.
