What are the responsibilities and job description for the PTECH/CTE Counselor position at La Vega High School?
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Guidance Curriculum: Assist students with the selection of appropriate CTE courses. Promote career awareness exploration and planning at all levels. Provide career development, occupational, labor market, non-traditional career, and post-secondary information. Collaborate with district, campus personnel, and the CTE Department to create a suggested CTE Master schedule for all secondary schools. Maintain and update the District Course Guide and CTE Flipbook Maintain and update CTE courses in the district’s student information system (SIS).
Coordination of college and career counseling services, which may include the following: Student recruitment for CTE programs. Interpretation and use of computer-based interest inventories and college databases.
CTE Student Recognition Coordination of technical dual credit programs such as: Promote, recruit, and support students to meet enrollment requirements. Coordinate with the Advanced Academics Department, campus Academic Advisors, and the CTE Department. Support students by performing grade checks and providing interventions when necessary due to poor attendance and/or behavior concerns. Coordinate presentations addressing the requirements for graduation relevant to HB 5 endorsements and CTE Programs of Study. Assist counselors to ensure students meet graduation requirements, attain endorsements, complete Programs of Study, and meet CCMR criteria. Maintain accurate records (e.g., student management file, monthly campus activities, and campus CCMR data). Counsel individuals and groups of students with educational and career planning information when appropriate. Counsel individuals and groups of students concerning needs and concerns and consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other individuals when appropriate.
Individual Planning: Coordinate student placement into limited seating courses by developing and employing equitable enrollment procedures.
Coordination of college and career information such as: Field trips and other experiential activities, CTE Industry-based Certification Day, certification exams, post-high school, college, and career information (financial aid meetings, etc.), district-wide College/Career Night, CTE Job Fair, and middle school CTE elective interest event, partnerships with local business owners and employment agencies, summer job opportunities and internships, and assist with coordinating community programs that benefit CTE students.
This positon includes and $8,000 stipend.
Salary : $51,711 - $77,199
