What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseperson position at La Valencia Hotel?
Job Summary
We are looking for a houseperson to join our team and provide excellent customer service to our hotel guests. Ideal candidates are highly motivated and effective at working in a fast-paced team environment. In addition, shares our passion for hospitality and creating exceptional and memorable experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist guests as needed
- Assist room attendants with heavy items such as mattresses and soiled linens
- Pickup clean linen and refill the par stock of linen on each floor
- Remove dirty linen from chute
- Responds to guest requests such as delivery of housekeeping items in a timely and efficient manner
- Wash windows, and cleaning of balconies
- Floor and carpet care (mopping, vacuuming, shampoo, etc.)
- Clean and dust pictures, lights, handrails, etc.
- Clean, organize all linen closets
- Inspect hallways for garbage, linen, food trays, etc.
- Report missing items in guest rooms to management
- Assist management with special projects ( Deep Cleaning, cleaning rooms )
- All other duties as assigned by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and/or carry items approximately 75 pounds and pull and/or push items weighting approximately 100 pounds with assistance
- Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing
- Ability to walk and/or stand for extenuating periods of time
- Ability to operate a vacuum cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, floor buffer and wet vacuum as well as other cleaning machines
- Ability to work in various environments including adverse weather conditions such as cold, rain or heat
- Detailed oriented
- Wear earpieces while working
JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION LEVEL: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. At least 1 year of related experience and/or training required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS AND APTITUTES: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively. High quality standards for service. Maintain a professional and courteous environment. Good team player. High level of morale and productivity.

The expected wage for this position is $21.50 per hour.
