What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE WORKER (Groundskeeper) SEASONAL position at LA United Methodist Children Family Svcs?
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To help carry our all aspects of maintenance program.
Give prompt attention to all written maintenance request forms, and to report disposition, upon completion to Director of Maintenance.
Maintain in a systematic and orderly arrangement a shop for tools, materials and equipment necessary for effective maintenance.
To be responsible for systematic lawn mowing and trimming in season, to keep the campus attractive to the public.
Make general repairs of all buildings and equipment and to determine needed carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting or other repairs.
To maintain all landscaping of the agency so as to present the proper image to the community.
To make sure all agency vehicles are in proper repair and safe for staff and youth.
To make sure all buildings and equipment comply with health and safety regulations and make periodic safety checks of buildings and equipment.
To perform such other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a high school graduate and this position implies necessity for mechanical aptitude and rudimentary skill and knowledge in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electricity, painting, and mechanical skills.
CHARACTERISTICS
Must have the capacity to observe areas of need, to communicate this need to their supervisor in a meaningful manner at the same time working cooperatively and through proper channels with the total staff.
Must possess a mechanical aptitude in maintenance, operating and caring for electrical, carpentry plumbing, construction hand and power tools.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, performing skilled and semiskilled tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities.
Must be skilled in dealing with emergency situations willing to be recalled to handle these situations.
Must be able to function as member of a team and be able to receive direction from others.
EMPLOYMENT PROVISIONS
Time on Duty: To be arranged so as to best accomplish the work to be done. To follow a basic office schedule from Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch 12:00 noon - 12:30 p.m.
Salary: As provided for in the Annual Budget.
FLSA Exemption: Non-exempt
Benefits: As stated in Personnel Policies and Procedures and determined by Board of Directors.
