What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Server position at La Tour Restaurant?
Restaurant Servers are responsible for coordinating an entire station and communicating with front and back-of-the-house personnel to provide a dining experience that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
Tasks:
1. May obtain or determine assigned service station from host/hostess at start of work shift.
2. Sets up dining room and wait staff stations with proper mise en place. Makes sure restaurant is properly clean and presentable for service.
3. Finds out about any specials or changes to menus, wine list or pertinent information for daily service.
4. Prepares food and beverage tickets and daily server sheet.
5. May greet guests, seat guests and present them with menus. Informs guests of specials and menu changes, makes suggestions, and answers questions regarding food, beverages and service.
6. Communicates food and beverage orders to kitchen staff and bartender as appropriate.
7. Processes guests' orders to ensure all items are ordered, prepared properly and served on a timely basis. Communicates with greeter, bus person, kitchen staff and bartender. Coordinates entire stations to ensure guest satisfaction with food and service.
8. Serves courses from kitchen and service areas promptly, may garnish items with proper presentation prior to serving.
9. May prepare flaming dishes and desserts tableside, and present, open, and pour wine when serving guest.
10. Observe diners to ensure that guests are satisfied with the food and service, responds to any additional requests, and determines when the meal has been completed.
11. Totals bills and accepts payment, makes sure of accuracy and completes wait staff daily sales sheet.
12. Responsible for accurate knowledge of wine list and all menu items.
Education:
High school graduate desired or equivalent. Must be 21 or older.
Must be able to communicate and understand the primary language(s) used by the guests who typically visit the work location. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Experience:
Must have minimum 3-years fine dining experience. Must have advance knowledge of the sequence of service and dining room procedures. Must have advance knowledge of food, beer, wine, and spirits. Must be customer sensitive and possess a sense of timing so that different courses may be served at the proper time.
Physical:
Must be able to exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to twelve hours in length. Must have the ability to lift pans and trays frequently weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to escort guests to other parts of the facility as circumstances dictate.
