We are seeking part-time Buffer/Polishers. Previous experience as a Buffer/Polisher is helpful, but we will train enthusiastic candidates.

Buffer/Polisher, La Toque - LT Napa Partners, LLC

Responsibilities

The Buffer/Polisher will provide and maintain high-quality standards polishing glasses, stemware, silver, and other items upon request while keeping the workspace a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in which to work. This role will contribute to the organization as an active business partner that is responsible for supporting the company's goals, objectives, vision, mission, and values.

• Previous hospitality experience is an asset, but not essential; we will train enthusiastic candidates.

Essential Functions

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for polishing wine glasses, water glasses, and silverware.
• Maintain work area in a neat and organized manner.
• Restocking service area with cleaned and polished glassware and silverware.
• Clean specialty service pieces (wooden boards, copper pots, etc.) and return them to the cooking line.
• Launder specialty buffing towels (machines onsite).
• Understand how to fill, drain, and clean the glassware washing machine.

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may require you to perform a combination of other supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the restaurant.

Other

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with La Toque rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the restaurant facilities. Employees who violate restaurant rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Requirements

• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to work a flexible shift; nights, weekends, and holidays are a must. This position may require overtime and altered scheduling according to occupancy.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English to understand instructions, safety rules, and communicate with Management and co-workers.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid current CA Food Handlers Card or willingness and ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Must have a valid current CA Resposible Beverage Service certification or willingness and ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
• Must possess safe work habits with an awareness of safe work procedures.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Physical Requirements

Ability to physically handle glassware racks, silverware racks, knives, pots, etc. and lift and carry the same from shelves and otherwise transport up to 50 pounds to every area of the restaurant or storerooms. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, bending, crouching, and kneeling.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities. (Previous experience as a buffer/polisher is helpful, but we will train enthusiastic candidates.)
