- Which option best describes your experience with smartphone motherboard repairs?
⬜ I have little to no experience with board-level phone repairs.
⬜ I regularly perform advanced board-level phone repairs, including power rail analysis, short detection, signal tracing, and using schematics or boardviews to diagnose complex faults.
- A phone has been diagnosed and confirmed to have a logic board–related issue causing it not to power on.
The customer’s main concern is whether the device can be repaired since they have their data on it and what it will cost.
Explain how you would communicate this to the customer and provide an estimate, including:
What information you clearly explain about the logic board issue
How you present pricing when board-level repair outcomes are uncertain
How you explain risks, success rates, and limitations without using technical jargon
How you avoid guaranteeing data recovery or repair success
How and when you provide updates during the repair process and request approval before proceeding
- You diagnose a phone and determine the repair could be either a simple part replacement or a more involved board-level repair, with a significant price difference between the two.
Describe how you would:
Present the estimate options to the customer
Explain the cost difference in simple, non-technical language
Set expectations around turnaround time and approval
Handle the situation if the customer declines the higher-cost repair
