Job Summary

La’So Medical is a small, community-based primary care clinic dedicated to providing personalized, patient-centered healthcare. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where your contributions make a real difference in patient care.

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient intake processes, including obtaining vital signs and medical history.
  • Administer medications and perform basic life support as needed.
  • Support patient care by preparing examination rooms and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Conduct routine procedures and assist in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure optimal patient flow and satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD coding for accurate billing processes.
  • Engage with patients to provide education on treatment plans and follow-up care.
  • Answers basic questions from patient/family regarding treatments, diagnosis and procedures.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Monitors supply inventory, ensuring adequate supplies, equipment or garments are available and that they comply with regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure lab specimens are ordered, collected, and sent to proper labs

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with patients: obtain vital signs, conduct EKGs, perform PFTs and audiograms, perform phlebotomy, and verify medications.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, injections, and vaccinations.
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain cleanliness, and stock supplies.
  • Perform diagnostic testing including pulmonary function tests, audiograms, and drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Complete documentation, requisitions, and patient communications in a timely manner.
  • Assist with scheduling, care coordination, and patient follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and staff development.
  • Support clinic services including wellness/weight management, DOT physicals, and medical certifications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week
