Job Summary
La’So Medical is a small, community-based primary care clinic dedicated to providing personalized, patient-centered healthcare. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. - Assist healthcare providers with patient intake processes, including obtaining vital signs and medical history.
- Administer medications and perform basic life support as needed.
- Support patient care by preparing examination rooms and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Conduct routine procedures and assist in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure optimal patient flow and satisfaction.
- Maintain knowledge of ICD coding for accurate billing processes.
- Engage with patients to provide education on treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Answers basic questions from patient/family regarding treatments, diagnosis and procedures.
- Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
- Monitors supply inventory, ensuring adequate supplies, equipment or garments are available and that they comply with regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensure lab specimens are ordered, collected, and sent to proper labs
Key Responsibilities
- Interact directly with patients: obtain vital signs, conduct EKGs, perform PFTs and audiograms, perform phlebotomy, and verify medications.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, injections, and vaccinations.
- Prepare exam rooms, maintain cleanliness, and stock supplies.
- Perform diagnostic testing including pulmonary function tests, audiograms, and drug/alcohol screenings.
- Complete documentation, requisitions, and patient communications in a timely manner.
- Assist with scheduling, care coordination, and patient follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic policies.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and staff development.
- Support clinic services including wellness/weight management, DOT physicals, and medical certifications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
