La Salle Academy is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory school, sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools (the De La Salle Christian Brothers) offering a comprehensive curriculum. Founded in 1871 and located in the heart of Providence, La Salle Academy serves a student body of 1560 students in grades 6 through 12.
We are seeking a dynamic and well-rounded science educator to join our science department. The primary responsibility for the position is teaching Biology , with opportunities to instruct elective courses such as Anatomy, Forensics, Microbiology, Oceanography or other science-related subjects based on expertise and student interest. We are looking for passionate educators who can engage students in inquiry-based learning, foster scientific curiosity, and contribute to a collaborative academic environment. Educators from any science background are encouraged to apply.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This position will instruct and supervise five (5) high school classes.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Teach biology to high school students in accordance with state and national standards.
- Teach at least one elective course based on expertise and departmental needs. This elective course can include but is not limited to : Anatomy, Forensics, Microbiology, Oceanography, Biotechnology, Environmental Science or at the AP Level.
- Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on labs, critical thinking, and real-world applications.
- Utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
- Assess and support student progress through differentiated instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and contribute to the science department.
- Participate in school activities, professional development, and extracurricular programs as needed.
