Job Summary

The Night Auditor is responsible for providing excellent overnight guest service while completing front desk duties, auditing daily hotel transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the safety and security of guests and the property. The Night Auditor works independently during overnight hours and is expected to maintain professional hotel standards at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform guest check-in and check-out according to hotel standards.
  • Operate the Property Management System (PMS) accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete the nightly audit and verify daily hotel transactions.
  • Reconcile cash, credit card, room charges, deposits, and other financial transactions.
  • Prepare and review daily financial reports, including occupancy, revenue, and payment reports.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in guest accounts and financial records.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions in accordance with hotel policies.
  • Process and review reservations for guest rooms and meeting rooms.
  • Take group reservations and establish and maintain group blocks.
  • Sell available guest rooms to new arrivals and guests making telephone inquiries.
  • Operate the hotel switchboard and demonstrate professional telephone etiquette.
  • Respond to guest requests, questions, and concerns in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Follow all front office emergency, safety, and security procedures.
  • Monitor the hotel during overnight hours and report unusual or suspicious activity to management.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required overnight paperwork.
  • Assist with administrative duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain the front desk, lobby, and surrounding areas in a neat, clean, and organized condition.
  • Set up, replenish, and monitor the cleanliness of the breakfast area and breakfast bar.
  • Operate laundry equipment as directed and maintain appropriate cleanliness standards.
  • Exercise sound judgment when making minor decisions and resolving routine guest issues.
  • Communicate important information and overnight incidents to the incoming shift and management.
  • Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and provide courteous service to all guests, associates, vendors, and visitors.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance while wearing the proper clean uniform and nametag.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Spanish-speaking ability is preferred.
  • Basic mathematics and accounting skills.
  • Previous hotel front desk or night audit experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of night audit procedures and basic accounting principles.
  • Computer, keyboarding, and typing skills.
  • Ability to learn and operate hotel PMS and other computer systems.
  • Ability to accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and financial records.
  • Good handwriting and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional and hospitable manner when interacting with the public.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities during overnight hours.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when handling guest concerns or emergencies.
  • Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and security standards.

Work Requirements

  • Must be available to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Must be able to remain alert and attentive throughout the overnight shift.
  • Must be able to perform basic physical duties associated with front desk, lobby, breakfast, and laundry operations.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of guest and hotel information.

Key Performance Expectations

The Night Auditor is expected to maintain accurate financial records, complete the nightly audit correctly and on time, provide excellent guest service, maintain a clean and secure hotel environment, and ensure a smooth transition between overnight and morning operations.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $15.00 per hour
