The Role
We’re looking for a grounded, compassionate leader to oversee our 24/7 emergency shelter in Alamosa. This role blends people leadership, operations, and systems thinking—ensuring the shelter runs smoothly while creating a safe, supportive environment for those experiencing homelessness.
You’ll lead a diverse team, guide program development, and help shape how care is delivered across the shelter.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop Staff
- Supervise shelter staff and AmeriCorps members
- Hire, onboard, and train team members
- Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and compassion
Oversee Shelter Operations
- Ensure safe, client-centered daily operations
- Support case planning and housing navigation efforts
- Participate in on-call leadership rotation
Program & Systems Leadership
- Develop and improve shelter procedures
- Maintain high-quality data tracking and reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams and community partners
Facility & Kitchen Oversight
- Oversee commercial kitchen operations, food safety, and inventory
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility
- Coordinate with maintenance and public health partners
Administrative & Strategic Work
- Manage budgets and approve expenses
- Support grant reporting and compliance
- Contribute to organizational leadership and planning
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field
- (or equivalent experience with 4 years in leadership)
- Experience in nonprofit, shelter, or human services settings
- Strong leadership and team development ability
- Clear, effective communication
- Organized with strong documentation skills
- Crisis response and trauma-informed approach (preferred)
- Systems thinker who can solve problems and improve processes

Compensation & Benefits
