Make a Real Difference — Outside!
Spend your summer in the stunning San Luis Valley — the world’s largest alpine valley, surrounded by soaring mountains and vibrant farming communities. As a Seasonal Summer Assistant, you’ll dig into hands-on work that strengthens your community, helps kids fall in love with nature, and grows fresh, healthy food for those who need it most.
Whether you're watering sunflowers under endless blue skies, leading kids in harvesting rainbow-colored veggies, or throwing the Stone Soup Harvest Festival, every day you’ll be making a real impact.
This isn’t just a summer job. It’s a chance to grow — gardens, friendships, and your future.
What You'll Do:
- Get your hands dirty tending three thriving community gardens — planting, weeding, watering, harvesting.
- Be a garden mentor — help deliver fun, interactive lessons to local kids about where food comes from and why it matters.
- Host awesome events like garden camps and harvest celebrations.
- Team up with volunteers — organize community workdays that bring people together to make a difference.
- Keep things organized — track harvest totals, help with project planning, and support with basic garden repairs.
What We're Looking For:
- You’re energized by the outdoors and don't mind getting a little muddy.
- You believe food can change lives — and everyone deserves access to good, healthy food.
- You’re great with kids, outgoing with people, and love seeing others succeed.
- You’re ready to learn new skills, try new things, and adapt on the fly.
- You’re committed to working from Mid-May or June until Mid-October.
Bonus Points If You:
- Know a thing or two about gardening, farming, or environmental sustainability.
- Have led groups before (camps, clubs, classrooms, etc.).
- Speak a little Spanish.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a real grassroots movement to fight hunger, nurture the earth, and build stronger communities.
- Spend your days outside in some of the most beautiful landscapes in Colorado.
- Grow your skills in education, leadership, sustainability, and nonprofit work.
- Make connections that last — with people, with nature, and within yourself.
