Position: Maintenance Helper
Temporary Position - Summer 2026 (June 1 - August 7, 2026)
Job Description:
Follow routine cleaning and general maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
Experience:
- Experience in a general maintenance environment is preferred, but not required
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 18 years of age as of June 1, 2026
- La Porte ISD graduate, preferred
- GED/High School Diploma, preferred
- One reference is required from a former teacher, counselor, or principal
- Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with moving items within the district
- Observe and shadow the responsibilities of the Maintenance Department staff.
- Assist maintenance staff in maintaining and cleaning facilities in the district. This could include pressure washing and parking lot striping.)
- Adhere to the Department dress code and procedure requirements

Comply with District standards of professional conduct, policy, and procedures
- Perform duties as assigned by the Maintenance Department
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Pressure washer, paint roller/striper machine, ladder, and other necessary equipment, tools, products, and supplies.
Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching
Lifting: Heavy lifting required up to forty-five (45) pounds unassisted frequently
Environment: Work is both outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders required; may work alone
Mental Demands: Reading, writing, and understanding written and verbal instructions
Pay:
$10.72/hour
