Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and manage check-in/check-out procedures efficiently using Dentrix software.
- Schedule appointments accurately, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily patient flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using Dentrix and other EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or eClinicalWorks.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent customer service and addressing patient inquiries promptly.
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and documentation review to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Manage office supplies, file patient records, and perform clerical duties including data entry and typing with high accuracy.
Skills
- Proven experience as a dental receptionist or front desk coordinator in a dental clinic setting.
- Extensive knowledge of Dentrix Dental Management Software; familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Meditech or Athenahealth; experience with EHR systems like eClinicalWorks is desirable.
- Excellent phone etiquette, communication skills, and ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key).
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and medical documentation review processes.
- Prior clinic or healthcare office experience with medical administrative support is preferred.
