TITLE: INSTRUCTOR
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid and current Iowa Teaching License.
- Has demonstrated successful classroom and/or student teaching.
- Such alternatives/additions as the Board may find acceptable.
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Building Administrator
JOB GOAL: To develop in the student the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will promote their fullest possible development.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shows a passion for the district’s students and displays a caring, empathetic, positive and respectful attitude at all times.
- Instructs students in basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Strives to implement, by instruction and actions, the district’s vision/mission of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative expectations.
- Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt to the needs of each student.
- Uses appropriate, and varied, instructional aids and instructional strategies.
- Uses relevant technology to support instruction.
- Establishes and maintains building level standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on an on-going basis and provides progress reports as required to different stakeholders.
- Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records.
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students positively address academic, social, and emotional issues, including but not limited to: IEPs, 504 plans, At-Risk plans, and Health plans.
- Assists with supervision of students in out-of-classroom activities.
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled by building principal, director of curriculum, superintendent or others.
- Maintains and improves professional competence through a growth mindset and completing/participating in graduate work, in-services, conferences, etc.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Demonstrates positive human relation skills toward staff, students, parents/guardians and community members.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s), substitute teachers, student teachers, and volunteers as needed.
- Follows the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics as put forth by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
- Shows a commitment to the Union Community School District and actively portrays the district and stakeholders in a positive manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined by the Board, in consultation with the superintendent.
