Job Summary
Full-Time | 5 Days / 8-Hour Shifts
Starting Pay: $18.50 –$18.75/hour depending on experience

The Medical Assistant Trainee-Float (MA) supports safe, efficient patient care by preparing patients and rooms, assisting providers during visits and procedures, completing ordered clinical tasks, and managing routine clinical communications and follow-up according to clinic protocols.
The MA is accountable for reliability, timeliness, accuracy, and teamwork. The MA escalates patient safety concerns, clinical exceptions, and workflow barriers early and clearly to protect patients and keep the clinic running smoothly. The MA reports to the RN Clinical Lead for scheduling, training, performance, and escalation and receives day-to-day direction from assigned provider(s) for patient-specific clinical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients accurately and efficiently
- Document patient care in the EHR
- Assist providers with exams and procedures
- Administer injections, collect specimens, and perform EKGs within MA scope
- Manage inbox tasks including results, refills, and patient messages
- Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms
- Support team coverage and clinic workflow (including float coverage once qualified)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Interest in patient care and willingness to learn
- Strong attendance and reliability (this role depends on consistent coverage)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable using computers and learning EHR systems
- Ability to work in a busy clinic with frequent interruptions
Preferred
- Previous healthcare experience (CNA, EMT, MA training, clinical assistant, etc.)
- Experience with injections, EKGs, or specimen handling
