Patient Care Coordinator (Eye Care Clinic)

As a Patient Care Coordinator you'll be taking on a range of responsibilities at our reception area. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate well with our patients and team, show compassion to our patient care needs, and be flexible in a changing environment. Furthermore, the person assuming this position must be willing to learn and be open to cross-training across departments of our office such as front desk, billing, optical (eyeglasses) and technician support. Essential Job duties include, but are not limited to:
-Answering phone lines in a professional/courteous manner and routing calls appropriately
-Coordinating and ensuring a smooth flow of patients throughout their visit within the office
-HIPAA compliance
-Greet and welcome office visitors in a friendly, professional manner as soon as they arrive
-Schedule and confirm patient appointments and return follow ups appropriately
-Medical and Vision Insurance verification of benefits and eligibility
-Communicate professionally with other health care offices and teams
-Maintain office documents
-Accurate computer data entry, scanning, filing documents
-Proficient use of computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, email, etc.
-Navigating EHR software systems
-Ensuring high quality customer service as a priority
-Willing to work between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday through Friday
-General office maintenance duties as needed
-Willing to train in assisting the doctors in performing patient diagnostic tests, vision tests, documentation of exam results in the EHR system, etc
-Willing to train in assisting our optician in our optical department with fitting and measuring patients for glasses, selection of appropriate prescription lenses, dispensing eye wear, adjusting/repairing glasses, order entry, etc

Prior experience working within any aspects of the eye care industry is preferred: Optometry, optician, ophthalmology, technician, insurance billing, optical, etc. Customer service skills and interpersonal aptitude are vital.
Qualifications
- Medical office experience
- Proficient computer experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with PM (practice management) and/or EHR software (electronic health record)
- Ability to handle medical administrative tasks efficiently
