CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Candidate will perform Abd, Ob/gyn, vascular and small parts ultrasound exams in a hospital, ER and outpatient setting.
2. Candidate must be able relay pertinent information to radiologist and provide accurate exams in a timely manner with focus on compassion and care for the patient.
3. Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, answering any questions, and ensuring their comfort during the exam. Position patients appropriately to obtain optimal images, ensuring clear communication throughout the procedure.
4. Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow.
5. Ensure accurate positioning of the ultrasound transducer for clear and precise imaging.
6. Perform specialized ultrasound procedures, such as abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans, based on patient needs.
7. Analyze images for quality and completeness, ensuring diagnostic accuracy.
8. Document and organize ultrasound results, recording all relevant patient data and images for physician review.
9. Ensure that all images are properly stored in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
10. Must be able to work in a team environment.
11. Maintain and clean ultrasound equipment regularly to ensure functionality and safety.
12. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report any issues to the appropriate team for repair.
13. Monitor and maintain patient safety and comfort during procedures.
14. Adhere to all safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and patient confidentiality standards.
15. Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed prior to procedures.
16.Ensure that patient records and exam reports are up to date and accurately filed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to department needs.
Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.
Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
May require periodic use of personal computer.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Ultrasound Technology, or a related field from an accredited program.
Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent certification (e.g., Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). Additional certifications in specific areas (e.g., OB/GYN, Abdomen, Vascular) may be required based on the clinical setting.
BLS Certification required.
One-year experience as a Sonographer or Ultrasound Technologist required.
Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and producing high-quality images. Strong knowledge of human anatomy and ultrasound technology. Ability to analyze and interpret images for diagnostic purposes. Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, explain procedures, and report findings to medical staff. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in Echocardiography
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
