La Paz County is looking for a motivated Property Appraiser to support essential functions within the Assessor’s Office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

Performs work of moderate to considerable difficulty collecting property appraisal information. Performs analysis of varying types of mass appraisal data to produce property values for ad valorem tax purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate official property records.
  • Apply analysis, research and writing techniques to draft clear, concise and organized correspondence, memoranda and property record documents.
  • Follow Arizona State Statutes pertaining to property valuation.
  • Interacts with municipal, state, local agencies, and internal business partners to educate property owners and resolve issues.
  • Performs field inspections for property data collection including land attributes, building characteristics and construction components.
  • Produce property valuations for ad valorem tax purposes.
  • Present, defend and testify at Assessor, County Board of Equalization hearings and Tax Court as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill & Ability

  • Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to work independently exercising judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to be deployed to remote areas of the County and work outdoors in varying weather conditions or other potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or GED certificate or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the capacity to perform the duties of the position.
  • Maintain a valid Arizona Driver License throughout length of employment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

AND

Property Appraiser Apprentice: Perform basic math calculations.

Property Appraiser I: Minimum of one (1) year work experience as Apprentice Appraiser,

Required: Level I Certification Arizona Department of Revenue

Property Appraiser II: Minimum of 18 months (1.5 years) work experience as Appraiser I.

Required: Level II Certification Arizona Department of Revenue
