Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the Housekeeping Supervisor is to assist in the oversight of the entire Housekeeping Department by training, directing and supervising the housekeeping staff, inspecting the cleanliness and the appearance of guest rooms and public spaces and ensuring that all housekeeping employees carry out their assignments in accordance with established standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the supervision of Housekeeping staff which involves direct and indirect responsibilities for training, motivating, performance appraisal and developing policies and procedures to ensure achievement of company and department goals.
- Issue daily assignments to staff, reviewing special requests and areas of concentration to ensure a smooth flow of the housekeeping operation.
- Handle guest complaints concerning housekeeping service or refer issues to management when needed.
- Notify maintenance of any needed repairs in all guest rooms and public spaces.
- Inspect all rooms after they have been cleaned to ensure that all hotel policies and standards have been met and that the room is ready to be occupied.
- Update the property management system with the proper status of all rooms.
- Ensure that all storage areas and linen closets are kept in clean and satisfactory condition, as well as stocked with needed items.
- Control waste of product and linen and ensures that all products are used in accordance with directions and care.
- Monitor time housekeepers are taking to clean guest rooms.
- Perform the duties of a Room Attendant and/or Houseman as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a housekeeping position.
- At least one (1) year of Supervisor experience.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule with varying days off, as business demands dictate.
- Must have a positive and friendly attitude towards guests, customers, and fellow employees.
- Must be extremely detailed-oriented and have outstanding communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete task efficiently when under pressure.
- Must be a self-starter and have the initiative to perform tasks without being directed to do so.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Must be proficient in property operating systems. OPERA knowledge is preferred.
- Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to reach overhead and below the knee; including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for an extended period of time.
