This is a part-time position as an Events and Tasting Room Associate reporting directly to the Operations Manager, Events and Tasting Room at La Marguerite.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, friendly and enjoys interacting with people while delivering the highest level of customer service. We expect everyone to communicate with guests, co-workers, and business associates in a courteous and professional manner so you must be people and hospitality oriented.
This is an hourly position, including tips, with the opportunity to earn bottle commissions and wine club membership commissions. Typical days are Friday through Sunday and the Tasting Room is open 11 AM to 7 PM. There is an opportunity for this role to provide additional hours in support of in-house and contracted events. There is an opportunity for this role to become full-time.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Tasting Room
- Deliver exceptional customer service to every guest, with a goal to make each visit an experience that is lasting and memorable.
- Educate our guests on wine, wine and food pairings and wine appreciation
- Support back of the house team as needed with glass polishing and food preparation.
- Promote and effectively sell wine, retail merchandise, and increase wine club and Morris Ranch memberships to guests.
- Effectively understand and educate our guests on the Morris Ranch story and our vision
- Effectively understand all offerings under La Marguerite, the greater Morris Ranch offerings and experiences and demonstrate the ability to upsell guests into those experiences.
- Daily opening and closing responsibilities in the Tasting Room.
- Operate POS, our reservation, and our wine / wine club systems for routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register, accounting of daily sales, and processing returns and discounts and entering/tracking wine club memberships.
- Facilitate our high standard of cleanliness and organization in all areas of La Marguerite and partner Morris Ranch venues including, food areas, deck area, preparation areas and restroom
- Be fully present in the tasting room during opening hours to help ensure quality performance of tasting room staff and to interact with our customers
- Assist with inventory control including movements, merchandising and stocking of all items
- Maintain full stock of wines, food items, and gift shop items
- Perform other duties as required including assisting other departments as needed
Qualifications
- Appreciation and passion for wine and wine-related topics.
- Winery experience preferred, but not required.
- Restaurant experience, especially fine dining experience, beneficial but not required.
- Must have strong verbal skills with the ability to speak comfortably in front of people
- Must be a team player and maintain a positive disposition.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities required; ability to remain calm, professional and polite under high stress circumstances.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must be willing to cross train in food safety processes and procedures, event processes and procedures and fine dining service training.

Schedule: 10 AM to 7:30 PM Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Opportunity for additional hours in support of in-house events, contracted events and festivals if interested.
