Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in diverse specialties such as dermatology, emergency medicine, or hospital settings.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort while maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
- Collect specimens for laboratory testing, perform phlebotomy procedures, and manage specimen labeling and transport.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring precise documentation of patient encounters, medical histories, medication lists, and treatment plans.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, updating patient records, and managing ICD coding for diagnoses.
- Assist with medication administration under provider supervision and monitor patient responses during inpatient or outpatient care.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine or trauma centers to facilitate seamless patient care transitions.
- Support patient intake processes by collecting medical histories and ensuring accurate documentation of symptoms and concerns.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in clinical settings such as ,urgent care centers, or emergency departments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EMR systems) management tools.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certification is a plus.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with diverse populations including geriatrics or medically complex patients.
- Experience with venipuncture (phlebotomy), medication administration, vital signs collection, and medical documentation accuracy.
- Inpatient experience or Level I/II trauma center exposure highly desirable; OR experience is a plus for surgical support roles.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments such as emergency medicine while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities within a busy medical office.
