We are looking for a full-time ophthalmic technician who is positive, energetic, has excellent communication skills and professionalism with patients, and gets things done, to join our team. The ideal candidate has a COA or COT certification or higher or is able to obtain certification within 6 months of starting work.
Responsibilities Include
- Greets patients, introduces self and guides to appropriate exam area
- Does pre-testing on Auto-refractor, Pentacam, IOL Master 700 or Argos, and iCare tonometry
- Takes patient history, visual acuities, checks for ocular dominance
- Dials prescription from Auto-refractor into Phoropter and checks visual acuity and refracts as appropriate
- Checks Schirmer's
- Answers ophthalmology-related patient calls and triages patients
- Educates patient on pre- and post-operative care
- Calls pharmacies regarding prescriptions/prior authorizations
- Responsible for daily maintenance and stocking of exam lanes (open and close)
- Maintains an orderly clinic
- Anticipates supply needs and requests supply re-orders timely
- Maintains sterile technique in accordance with OSHA standards
- Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Performs additional testing such as Visual Fields
- Performs all clerical duties related to the patient and the practice
