La Jolla Kayak and Hike Bike Kayak Adventures is hiring Tour Guides to lead kayak and snorkel tours, Sales Associates and Beach Duty staff. We are currently hiring and training for our 2023 Summer and Fall seasons starting now through September 2023. We are looking for applicants with open availability to work both part-time and full-time positions.
Tour Guide Position:
As a tour guide for La Jolla Kayak and Hike Bike Kayak Adventures, you are responsible for taking guests on kayak and snorkel tours. Each guide will take 2-3 tours throughout the day as well as load and unload kayaks, clean and maintain equipment, help with kayak launch and retrieval, prepare guests for tours as well as answer any questions clients may have.
Beach Duty Position:
As a beach duty position for La Jolla Kayak and Hike Bike Kayak Adventures, you are responsible for launching tours, helping kayak rentals, keeping the beach clean and making sure basic kayak operations are upheld.
Tour Guide and Beach Duty Qualifications:
La Jolla Kayak and Hike Bike Kayak Adventures will provide in house water safety training which will be a comprehensive course outlining all necessary skills needed to safely manage and lead groups into the areas of interest either on kayak or in the water on snorkel trips. The position also requires a CPR and first aid course to be completed within 30 days of employment. Obtaining this will be the applicant’s responsibility as the certification is required for the position. Guides will need this certification before leading any tours. Kayak tour guides must be at least 18 years of age. Water experience is required.
Sales Associate Positions & Requirements:
La Jolla Kayak and Hike Bike Kayak Adventures are seeking sales associates to assist with customer check-in’s, questions and reservations. Sales associates must have strong phone and communications skills. Applicants must be able to mutli-task, answer busy phone lines and handle a high volume of customer traffic in the store. Previous customer service experience and knowledge of the local area and activities is preferred.
Compensation for all positions:
Starting pay for all positions is $16.30/hr.
Overall Requirements:
All candidates should have open availability throughout the summer season and preferably through September-October. It is necessary to work weekends and holidays. Candidates should be outgoing, friendly, demonstrate strong people skills, athletic, have surf, kayak, bike experience and the ability to work in a busy active beach environment both in and outdoors.,
A valid California Driver’s License and good driving record are required.
Good customer service skills and a strong work ethic are necessary.'
