Overview
A rapidly growing healthcare organization is expanding its Revenue Cycle team after experiencing significant revenue growth! The Medical Billing Supervisor will oversee daily billing and accounts receivable operations, guiding a team responsible for claim submission, payer follow-up, denials, and appeals. This Supervisor will act as a hands-on subject matter expert, managing workflow, troubleshooting escalated issues, and driving continuous improvement across the billing function.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day Billing and AR activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reimbursement.
- Provide leadership to billing/AR staff, including coaching, training, and performance support.
- Review EOBs, correspondence, and denials; direct corrective actions and ensure proper follow-up.
- Oversee appeals, reconsiderations, and payer documentation requests.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex claims and payer disputes.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs (AR aging, denial trends, collection effectiveness) and recommend process improvements.
- Identify patterns in payer behavior and communicate updates or issues to leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with billing, operations, and clinical teams to resolve claim barriers.
- Ensure thorough, accurate note-taking and documentation for all account activity.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer regulations and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of medical billing or medical AR experience, including at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of insurance payer rules, EOB interpretation, claim adjudication, and denial/appeal workflows.
- Experience navigating EMR and billing platforms; comfortable managing multi-step documentation processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially with escalated or complex claims.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and PDF tools (e.g., NitroPro).
- Experience with multi-state billing preferred; out-of-network experience is a plus but not required.
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
