Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Medical Coder role based in Metairie, LA. The Medical Coder will be responsible for reviewing medical documentation, assigning appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes, and ensuring compliance with coding regulations. Additional responsibilities include verifying accuracy in coding to facilitate proper billing processes and collaborating with healthcare professionals to clarify documentation as needed.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Medical Coding and knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Previous Coding Experience and familiarity with Health Information Management practices
- RHIT certification or equivalent credentials related to medical records or information management
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with industry-standard coding systems such as ICD, CPT, or HCPCS
- Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred
