What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser position at La Esquina - Downtown?
Job Overview:
The busser is responsible for ensuring tables are cleaned, reset, and ready for the next service. They also ensure guests’ drinks and other needs are met or are communicated to the Server or Manager. This role supports this Servers throughout service in guiding our guest experience.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Guest expectations are consistently met and exceeded
- Complete opening/closing side work checklist for shift daily
- Prepare dining room for service by setting tables, condiments, candles, napkins, plates and utensils
- Sweep and maintain the cleanliness of the floor areas under and around tables during and in between guest seatings throughout the shift
- Clear tables after guests, wipe tables or seats with dampened sanitation cloths and properly reset tables for next guest seating
- Notify servers, hosts and supervisors of readiness of tables for seating
- Remove used pitchers, glasses, cups, napkins, trays, etc. when guests no longer need them
- Transfer soiled glasses and other tableware to kitchen, designated bars, or dish station for cleaning
- Ensure guests have access to and adequate quantities of cutlery napkins and all related dining utensils and disposables
- Assist service team ensuring that tables are watered and all guest needs are attended to directly or brought to the attention of servers, supervisors or managers
- Be fully knowledgeable of what is going on in the venue
- Ensure that guest inquiries are addressed in a timely, professional, and effective manner
- Record all relevant guest feedback before, during, and after all shifts and convey to management as required
- Be fully knowledgeable of how the venue operates and how to best advise and direct guests entering the venue
Atmosphere and cleanliness:
- Meet company standards of presentation and personal hygiene
- Consistently deliver highest standards of service
- Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized
- Inform Manager on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
Essential Functions:
- Able to lift 40 lbs.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
