Performs all radiologic procedures to patients of all ages. Operates x-ray equipment, develops film, and prepares patient’s room, equipment, supplies and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs all radiology exams, assists with fluoroscopic examinations, and performs CT procedures.

2. Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patients.

3. Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment.

4. Prepares patient for x-ray, explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patient and assists patient at end of procedures.

5. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-ray; (adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient; adjusts lead shield; and selects proper film).

6. Develops film in accordance with photographic techniques.

7. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences and records patient’s condition.

8. Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties.

9. Performs x-rays utilizing mobile unit.

10. Inspects emergency trays and writes weekly reports.

11. Required to cross train in other medical imaging areas as needed.

12. Assists in maintaining departmental files.

13. Transports patients.

14. Perform quality control duties.

15. Attends required in-service programs.

16. Performs dark room technician’s duties.

17. Ensures proper procedure charges on each patient.

18. Delivers films and related forms to Radiologist.

19. Demonstrates an understanding of the abuse reporting requirements of the various age groups.

20. Understands and adheres to the hospital’s restraint procedure.

21. Responds appropriately to patients and their families’ cultural and spiritual considerations. Uses appropriate resources to meet the needs of the patient.

22. Demonstrates competence in the provision of care specific to adult and geriatric patients. Gives appropriate care by understanding the growth/developmental stages of various age groups.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

At least one (1) year prior experience performing radiology and CT’s procedures. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Licensed by the CRT California Board of Radiologic Technologist.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position requires pushing, pulling, and lifting materials not exceeding 50 pounds. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance. Requires grasping, writing, standing, reaching, sitting, lifting, squatting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with employees, physicians, visitors and patients. Must have the ability to hear warning horns or sirens. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and far visions. Requires manual and finger dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by the hospital’s environmental systems. There may be exposure to communicable diseases. There may be exposure to some potentially toxic substances, such as medication and cleaning agents. Frequent contact with employees, physicians, visitors and patients.

Pay: $29.00 - $35.00 per hour
