What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jazz Dance Instructor position at LA Dance Academy?
LA Dance Academy is seeking an experienced Jazz Dance Instructor to join our growing team for the 2026-2027 dance season.
We're looking for an enthusiastic, dependable teacher who loves working with children and is passionate about developing strong technical dancers in a positive, encouraging environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Jazz teaching experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of jazz technique, progressions, across-the-floor combinations, turns, leaps, flexibility, and conditioning
- Experience teaching children and teens of varying skill levels
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans and age-appropriate choreography
- Reliable, professional, and punctual
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and staff
Responsibilities
- Teach weekly Jazz classes using age-appropriate curriculum
- Help students develop proper technique, confidence, and artistry
- Choreograph recital routines
- Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment
- Arrive prepared and communicate effectively with studio staff
- Support LA Dance Academy's mission of providing exceptional dance education in a fun, encouraging atmosphere
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching lyrical and contemporary is a plus
- Competition choreography experience is a plus
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
