Job Summary
The Executive Director serves as the sole staff leader for the La Crescent Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. This hands-on role encompasses business development, event planning, tourism promotion, administrative oversight, financial management, marketing, and strategic collaboration with community stakeholders. The Executive Director ensures the Chamber remains a strong voice for local business and an effective promoter of La Crescent as a destination for visitors and commerce.
Key Responsibilities
Chamber Operations & Administration
- Lead the development and execution of the strategic plan that aligns with the chamber's mission.
- Manage daily office functions and serve as the main point of contact for members and the public.
- Maintain Chamber Google Drive and document systems for internal/external collaboration.
- Oversee bookkeeping in QuickBooks; coordinate with Treasurer and Bartsch Accounting for reconciliations, reports, and quarterly tax filings.
- Ensure secure handling of receipts, billing, credit card use, and records.
- Coordinate use and membership of shared office space (“Keep Company”).
Membership Services
- Recruit, retain, and support Chamber members.
- Manage annual membership renewal process, including bundled ticket options and sponsor levels.
- Maintain up-to-date membership database and communications.
- Deliver value through services, networking, and programming.
Events & Community Engagement
- Lead the planning and execution of Chamber events ents & fundraisers.
- Manage sponsorships, auction item solicitation, logistics, and communications.
- Lead the creation planning and oversight of business education offerings such as lunch & learns speaker sessions or other formats that provide local businesses with timely, practical guidance on topics relevant to their growth and success.
- Promote event attendance and engagement through social and direct outreach.
Tourism & Marketing
- Promote La Crescent’s tourism assets through digital ads, printed guides, and seasonal campaigns.
- Manage website and social media.
- Produce the annual Visitor Guide.
- Promote existing tourism video assets and create new content as appropriate.
- Submit quarterly lodging tax reports to the City of La Crescent and manage tourism-related grant applications and reimbursements.
Governance & Board Support
- Attend Board and committee meetings as part of core chamber operations and participate in economic development, city council and other key community or stakeholder meetings, either directly or in coordination with board members as needed to advance the chamber’s mission and visibility.
- Prepare and present a monthly Executive Director report.
- Collaborate with Board members on strategy, operations, and member engagement.
- Communicate schedule adjustments and availability with Board President
Qualifications
- Associate degree and 3 years of relevant business or nonprofit experience, including 1 year in a leadership role (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, G-Suite, Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and website content management
- Excellent organization, communication, and independent decision-making skills
- Familiarity with La Crescent’s community, businesses, and tourism industry preferred.

- A passion for local business and tourism, and a commitment to strengthening the La Crescent community.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $25,000 – $38,000 annually, depending on experience and weekly hour commitment.
- Hours: 25–30 hours per week (to be confirmed during hiring)
- Paid Time Off: Negotiated during hiring; will meet or exceed Minnesota Safe and Sick Leave law.
- No health insurance or retirement plan included.
Pay: $25,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
