JOB SUMMARY:

Bartenders primary responsibilities are to properly and quickly execute quality focused cocktails, beer, and wine using established recipes, techniques, and procedures outlined in basic, bar, and various bar training. Keep the bar area clean, stocked, and functioning smoothly. Provide assistance in all additional duties as needed. Promote a positive work environment by maintaining a respectful cooperation with all members

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take/serve orders and answer questions or make recommendations for other products
  • Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff
  • Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude
  • Promote dedication from customers
  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies
  • Help patrons select food and beverages by presenting menu; offering cocktails; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions
  • Greet and interact with guest(s) with warmth and professionalism as they arrive.
  • Have thorough understanding of table numbers and position numbers
  • Exhibit mastery in your cocktail, beer, wine, and beverage knowledge especially those on our menus but also attend La Corsha beverage classes and seek out information outside of our bar manual on a continual basis to assist you with unexpected guest(s) inquiries and requests
  • Know food, menu descriptions and ingredients used in items, and be able to make proper recommendations to guest(s)
  • Offer, take order, and serve any and all food and beverage items to bar guest(s)
  • Time the firing of food accordingly to the set standard amount of time it takes for a particular dish to be made as well as the time constraints of the guest(s)
  • Prepare and make drinks for guest(s) at the bar and for dinning and bar servers in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Perform side work
  • Maintain and clean and constantly replenished bar area at all times. Manage spills immediately and neatly.
  • Properly take/ring up/fire to-go orders that are handed to you from the host stand or called in from the bar phone.

  • Take messages and deliver accurately and timely
  • Handle cash and credit transactions including successful transfers for guests who wish to extend their existing bar tabs to their table
  • Assist in bussing and resetting tables as needed.
  • Provide information to guests as requested
  • Perform other customer service related requests to guests
  • Help other team members in their duties when time allows
  • Perform additional duties when management requests
  • Must adhere to Second Bar policies as well as IRS laws in regards to reporting cash tips and gratuities.
  • Understand that guest service and hospitality is above all.
  • Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
  • Respond to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process
  • Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant; inviting patrons to return
  • Obtain revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; delivering bill and payment to host; returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Fill in for absent staff as needed
  • Assist with special events as needed
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  • Promptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessary
Qualifications:

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Must be able to evaluate and choose alternate courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Must have the ability to gather information from all sources available and know how to use this information to best resolve a problem or need
  • Must be effective in listening to and understanding the concerns and issues raised by other employees or customers
  • Must be able to prioritize work as needed
  • Must communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers and patrons
  • Must be flexible to provide assistance to management team in a 24/7 operating environment 
  • Must have reliable transportation

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma / equivalency
  • Must possess English Language Skills sufficient to fully comprehend job assignments, including the ability to read, write and communicate in fluent English
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Must have Food Handlers and TABC Certifications
  • Completed BarSmarts sections 1-3 with a passing grade
  • Hands on experience in cashier duties
  • Ability to remember recipes, menu items, promotions, and specials
  • Previous serving / bartending experience required
  • Must have advanced knowledge of culinary preparation
  • Excellent oral communication skills required
  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, beer and other beverages
  • Must have experience in resolving guest complaints and issues to ensure 100% guest satisfaction

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working extended hours may be required as needed
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use repetitive wrist and finger movement, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Work standing on feet for extended periods of time, approximately 8 hours per day
  • Occasionally lifting, pulling or pushing up to 50 lbs
