Job Summary: 

We are seeking an Associate Director of Information Technology to join our Information Technology (IT) Department. This individual will assist the Director of Information Technology in overseeing the daily operations, management, coordination, development, activities, and deliverables of La Clinica’s IT functions, either personally or through team members. This position is responsible for helping the Director of IT provide guidance, advice, and support to the IT team, fostering a highly agile and professional environment.  

The ideal candidate will be a passionate IT professional dedicated to support, maintenance, and resolving staff needs, with a focus on producing outcomes that are well-designed, meticulously documented, user-friendly, and secure. The role requires addressing a broad range of needs within an agency-wide healthcare setting, with the overarching goal of continuously enhancing La Clinica’s technological capabilities. The successful candidate must be agile, solutions-driven, and take ownership of assigned projects, delivering innovative and thoughtful results. The role demands someone who is client-focused, efficient, and able to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. A high level of technical expertise and adherence to compliance guidelines are essential. The candidate should enjoy working with a variety of people, thrive in a dynamic healthcare technology environment, and stay current with industry developments. Proven experience managing both large and small projects, along with effective communication with leadership and stakeholders to support healthcare delivery, is required.  

This position is based on-site and reports directly to the Director of Information Technology. 

Major Areas of Responsibility, include but are not limited to: 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for assisting the Director of IT in the direction, management, coordination, and evaluation of the Information Technology Department. 

  • Assists in the supervision of primary Information Technology Department functions which cover systems and applications, infrastructure, support, telecommunications, technical operations, technical security, project management, and quality assurance. 

  • May supervise departmental staff as needed. 

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Communicate daily with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and regularly provides status to the CIO, other project stakeholders, and clinical and operational leadership as appropriate. 

  • Serve and communicate as a trusted partner working with staff to analyze technical requirements/needs and develop/deploy prioritized solutions, including for upcoming projects/events, to enable user access to information, address overall organizational goals, and facilitate service delivery for La Clinica’s needs. 

  • Assists the Director of IT to develop and implement IT Department policies and procedures as appropriate and especially related to infrastructure, hardware, software, acquisition, use, support, security, and backup. 

  • Assists the Director of IT to ensure that all IT Department personnel receive training as appropriate in order to succeed in their roles. 

  • Assists the Director of IT to develop and communicate standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data. 

  • Stays abreast of technology industry trends and all applicable technologies, including cyber security issues, system and software issues and remedies, and issues and remedies related to artificial intelligence and quantum computing. 

  • Collaborates with relevant contractors and other internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Demonstrates continuous attention to detail. 

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. 

  • Pursues training and development opportunities. 

  • Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments. 

  • Develop best practices. 

  • Resolves complex technology issues and tracks through internal ticketing system. 

  • Documents all processes performed. 

  • Adheres to the agencies policies and procedures. 

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

 

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of information technology systems, including their care and maintenance, and be highly adept at the use of Microsoft office products. 

  • Knowledge of operating principles, methods, and limitations of various systems, equipment and software. 

  • In-depth knowledge of data processing hardware and software, including their operational principles, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques. 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and servers, network configuration and operation components, computer hardware and software, techniques of computer operation, and maintenance and repair. 

  • Strong analytic, troubleshooting skills; can problem solve, organize, and manage multiple tasks and projects in a health information systems environment. 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

  • Must have excellent problem-solving, planning, and project management skills. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Able to identify root causes of systems integrity and application performance issues. 

  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to accept changes gracefully. 

  • Able to work professionally and collaboratively in team-based care delivery. 

  • Ability to work and communicate with people from various ethnic, socio-economic, educational and life experience 

  • Ability to be kind, empathetic, considerate, understanding, highly communicative, willing to work with others to solve problems, unable to talk down to others, consider everyone equal, respectful, and must be an all-around great human being to work with. 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Requires four-year college or university program certificate with –  

  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.   OR       

  • Two to four years related experience and/or training with demonstration of progressively higher responsibilities 

  • Experience with software applications, deployment techniques, interface technologies, and maintenance and support of these systems, including but not limited to clinical, financial, business, and technical is required. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods 

  • Bending/lifting, pushing/pulling, adjusting, or moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds in all directions and occasionally more. 

  • Repeating motions that may include the neck, wrists, hands and/or fingers 

  • Upper extremity demands: Reaching above shoulder and/or below waist 

  • Must be able to work flexible hours. Some evenings, nights, and weekends are occasionally required. May include taking after-hours support calls.
