Responds to all inquiries from patients and/or guarantors regarding account balances and insurance status. Reports appropriate accounts for bad debt review. Ensures collection compliances with the state of NM and LCDF policies and maintains stringent collection procedures

- Must possess ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
- Ability to interpret policies and guidelines and make appropriate judgments where no clear precedent exits.
- Knowledge of all insurance payer billing procedures and requirements for all professional claim and technical claims forms, and ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPC coding.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- High school graduate or equivalent and/or completion of a medical terminology course.
- Two years of experience in medical billing, medical collections, and insurance reimbursement or customer service in a medical setting.
