Job Title: Job Coach
Reports to: Director of Housing Services
Location: Las Cruces, NM (with occasional offsite meetings and community engagement)
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
La Casa, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, creative, and compassionate Job Coach to support clients residing in our transitional and permanent housing programs. The Job Coach will play a key role in helping survivors of domestic violence and their families achieve economic independence through employment, skill-building, and entrepreneurial opportunities. This includes traditional job placement and training, as well as exploring innovative social enterprise options such as launching a food truck or other mission-aligned business ventures.
Key Responsibilities
Client-Focused Employment Coaching
- Conduct employment readiness assessments with La Casa housing clients.
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching on résumé writing, interviewing, soft skills, and job retention strategies.
- Assist clients in navigating barriers to employment including transportation, childcare, and confidence-building after trauma.
- Connect clients with training programs, GED completion, and certification opportunities.
Job Development & Community Partnerships & Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers, workforce development organizations, small businesses, government entities, and educational institutions to develop job pipelines for clients.
- Advocate for inclusive hiring practices for survivors of domestic violence.
- Cultivate community partnerships to expand job placement options, training opportunities, and wraparound services for clients.
- Coordinate job fairs, mock interview sessions, and networking events in collaboration with employers, educational institutions and other local private and government agencies.
Social Enterprise Exploration
- Research and assess feasibility for socialpreneur projects (e.g., food truck, artisan goods, café, mobile pet care) that can offer paid training and transitional employment for clients.
- Work closely with the Director of Housing Services, Chief Executive Officer, and community partners to develop business plans and funding proposals for new ventures.
- Support client involvement in the design, launch, and day-to-day operations of these social enterprises.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, workforce development, human services, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Minimum 2 years experience in employment services, job coaching, workforce development, or small business development.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or underserved populations is highly desirable.
· Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining community collaborations.
- Strong networking, community engagement, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with interest or experience in launching mission-aligned businesses.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.
