Description: Job Title: Optical Engineering Technician - Mid Level Job Code: SAS20221912-94889 Job Location: Carlsbad, CA Job Description: * Assemble small optical, electrical, mechanical assemblies * Operate standard electrical and optical laboratory test equipment such as light sources, power supplies and optical spectrum analyzers * Operate custom benchtop automated machinery for fastening and adhering small assemblies * Provide input and conduct tests plans consistent with product requirements * Inspect, troubleshoot and carryout engineering experiments to resolve development challenges * Perform calibration, burn-in and alignment checks on equipment and tools * Work with engineering to evaluate and implement process improvements * Work from verbal or written instructions * Maintain high standard of quality and apply skills consistent with operating procedures and standards Essential Functions: * Works under limited supervision * May be a resource to other employees in areas of product expertise * Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment * Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures * Has the ability to follows established processes to complete tasks * Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations and resolves most issues * Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has moderate impact on the overall achievement of results for the team * Work is of moderate scope, typically on larger, task-related activities Qualifications: * Must have an active TS/SCI Clearance for this position * Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience Preferred Additional Skills: * Desirable but not required to have Class 3 soldering skills on small complex circuit boards * Desirable but not required to have experience working with free space optics and fiber optics in laboratory settings In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $56,500 - $104,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
